A man has died following a tragic motorcycle crash in the Hunter region this morning.
Just before 7am, emergency services responded to Booral Washpool Road in Stroud, approximately 85km north of Newcastle, after receiving reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a car.
Police from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District arrived at the scene and were informed that a northbound motorcyclist and a southbound silver Holden Captiva had collided.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. While his identity has not been formally confirmed, it is believed that the rider was a man in his 50s.
The 62-year-old driver of the Holden Captiva was uninjured. She was taken to Dungog Hospital for mandatory testing, as per standard procedure.
A crime scene was established, and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are now examining the circumstances leading to the accident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
