The historic Dairy Farmers Corner in Newcastle West is set to be revitalised as Thirdi Group begins construction on a significant mixed-use development. Marking the start of this ambitious project, an Aboriginal smoking ceremony and a traditional turning of the first sod were held to acknowledge and respect the land’s cultural heritage.

The site, located on the corner of Tudor and Hunter Streets, has long been a local landmark. It was once home to the Dairy Farmers building, a hub of Newcastle’s dairy industry. Even after the original building was demolished, the iconic glass milk bottle and clock were preserved and will be reimagined in the new development as part of a public art installation that pays homage to the site’s rich history.

Thirdi’s project will consist of two residential towers—one standing at 99 metres and the other at 90 metres—making them some of the tallest buildings in Newcastle. The development, known as Dairy Farmers Towers, will feature 184 apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms, offering spectacular views of the city and coastline. Alongside the residential offerings, a separate five-storey structure will house 1,500 square metres of commercial and retail space, along with communal amenities including a gym, pool, wine bar, and co-working hub.

This development is the latest addition to Newcastle’s West End precinct, where Thirdi Group has already delivered other prominent projects. The revitalisation of Dairy Farmers Corner is expected to breathe new life into the area, enhancing its reputation as one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods. The development aligns with Newcastle’s ongoing growth, combining contemporary urban living with a respectful nod to the past.
