Man Arrested Over Alleged Assault in Newcastle East
A man has been arrested following an alleged assault at a Newcastle East apartment earlier this afternoon.
Around 2:10 pm today (Friday, 16 August 2024), emergency services responded to a concern for welfare at a property on Nobbys Road.
Officers from Newcastle City Police District forced entry into the apartment, where they reportedly intervened in an ongoing assault.
A 46-year-old man sustained head lacerations and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was later transported to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment, with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
An 18-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and is currently assisting police with their inquiries at Newcastle Police Station.
The investigation is ongoing, with further details yet to be released.
