Gather your family, friends, and picnic rugs, as Maitland City Council’s popular Street Eats program returns to parks and playgrounds across Maitland this spring.

Starting Friday 6 September, four pop-up food truck events, each with its own playful theme and a great lineup of original and new food trucks, will visit Aberglasslyn, followed by Thornton, Louth Park, and Lochinvar.

For the first time, Street Eats is set to trial a pop-up bar at a few locations featuring a selection of local craft beers and wines, providing the perfect accompaniment to the delicious food on offer.

“Street Eats has always been a highlight for the Maitland community, and this year we’re adding an extra layer of fun with themed nights that the whole family will enjoy,” says Maitland City Council Senior Place Activation Officer Kara Stonestreet.

Mark your calendars and join us for:

  • Spring Feast at Golden Whistler Park, Aberglasslyn on Friday 6 September from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Dust off your spring frocks and celebrate the season in style with vibrant food and festivities.
  • ‘90s Nostalgia at Wirraway Park, Thornton on Friday 27 September from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Relive the good old days and don your best ’90s gear for a night of retro fun.
  • Monster Munch Halloween Special at Hillview Playground, Louth Park on Friday 18 October from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Put on your spookiest costumes and join us for a hauntingly good time.
  • Wild West Roundup at Hereford Hill Park, Lochinvar on Friday 15 November from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Grab your cowboy hats and boots for a thrilling Wild West adventure.

Council is inviting expressions of interest from community partners to participate in the upcoming Street Eats events, including performers who want to showcase their talents and local sporting groups interested in hosting registration pop-ups for the upcoming season.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your group to a diverse audience, engage with the community, recruit new members and raise funds, and support local partners through this vibrant community program,” says Ms Stonestreet.

To submit an expression of interest to be a Street Eats community partner or to view the full Street Eats program, dates, and locations, visit mait.city/Street-Eats or follow the My Maitland Facebook page.
