Due to forecast weather conditions, beachfront driving along Stockton Beach will be temporarily closed until Monday, 5 August. Large swells and strong winds are predicted to make the beachfront unsafe for vehicles. The closure will extend from the Gan Gan entry at Anna Bay to the Lavis Lane entry at Williamtown. This precaution is being taken to ensure visitor safety and to protect cultural sites.

The closure will be in effect from Friday, 2 August 2024, 8.43 am, to Monday, 5 August 2024, 5.00 pm. Conditions will be assessed daily, and the closure may be extended if necessary. The large swells and high tides create hazardous driving conditions, including impassable sections, drop-offs, and inundated beachfront areas.

Although the beachfront is closed to vehicles, the following areas remain open to visitors:

  • Lavis Lane entry
  • Fern Bay entry
  • Recreational Vehicle Area (RVA)
  • Ganyamalbaa Campground

Barriers and signs are in place at the Gan Gan entry to enforce the closure. Ganyamalbaa Camping and the Recreational Vehicle Area remain accessible via the Lavis Lane or Fern Bay entries.

Visitors are reminded that penalties apply for non-compliance with the closure. For more information, contact the local NPWS office on 02 4984 8200.
