Tragic House Fire Claims Life of Cessnock Teen

Cessnock, NSW – A devastating house fire in the Hunter Valley has claimed the life of Jack Bajric a 16-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Alkira Avenue, Cessnock, late last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 10 PM on Sunday, 28 July 2024. Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked to extinguish the blaze, but the house suffered extensive damage. Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the young boy could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Westpac Rescue Helicopter also landed near Alkira Avenue as part of the emergency response, but unfortunately, the boy could not be revived.

A total of nine fire crews were dispatched to combat the flames and succeeded in preventing the fire from reaching nearby homes, thus averting further damage.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District have established a crime scene and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding this event. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The local community has expressed deep sorrow and condolences for the family. Social media platforms have been flooded with messages of support, mourning the loss of the teenager and extending thoughts and prayers to his loved ones.

One community member shared, “Our condolences to the family and friends. It’s a heartbreaking loss. Thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.” Another commented, “Such sad news. My heart goes out to the family and all who responded to the incident.”
