Exciting Developments in Stage 2 Concept Design
The Stage 2 concept design for the Newcastle Ocean Baths promises significant enhancements, doubling the amenities available. Key features of the new design include:

  • Open Change Facilities: Both men’s and women’s facilities will have provisions for open change, allowing for social interaction while changing if preferred.
  • Family and Private Change Rooms: Two family, agender, and private use change rooms are included to cater to diverse needs.
  • Accessibility Enhancements: The design incorporates accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility, ensuring inclusivity for all visitors.
  • Kiosk and Food Premises: In response to community feedback, a kiosk window and food and drink premises have been included, offering both a service to visitors and a potential revenue stream to support ongoing maintenance.
  • Business Opportunities: The option to lease the kiosk and food premises provides a chance for local businesses to thrive while serving the bath’s visitors.

Community Engagement
The council is actively seeking feedback from the community to ensure the design meets public expectations. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and suggestions, whether positive, negative, or indifferent.

  • Event Participation: Meet the council representatives at the “We Love Our Coast” event on Thursday, 18 July, from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Digital Library, 12 Stewart Ave.
